Glaucoma

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Glaucoma can progress without symptoms and damage the optic nerve.
  • Follow-up and pressure control help protect vision.
  • Medical, laser and surgical options are selected individually.

Glaucoma is currently one of the world's leading causes of irreversible blindness.

It is a chronic degenerative disease of the optic nerve, usually symptom-free at onset. It progressively reduces the visual field and, if diagnosis is late or control inadequate, can lead to irreversible blindness.
